Game of Skill

TruePunt operates strictly as a platform offering games of skill, which are recognized under Indian law as distinct from gambling. A game of skill is one in which the outcome is predominantly determined by a player's knowledge, experience, training, strategy, and attention — not by chance or luck.

At TruePunt, all contests are designed to ensure that skill plays the dominant role. Whether it involves making strategic choices, analyzing statistics, or selecting the right combinations, users must apply their skills to compete and win. This separates our offerings from games of chance and ensures full legal compliance under applicable laws.

Our platform may include fantasy sports, quiz contests, or other skill-based engagements where participants compete on the basis of real-world knowledge, decision-making, and timing. Winners are determined based on their performance and strategic input, not luck.

Compliance with Indian Law

The Public Gambling Act of 1867 ("PGA, 1867") governs gambling laws in India and criminalizes activities related to public gambling and operation of gaming houses. However, games of skill are specifically excluded from the scope of this Act. Courts across India have upheld that games of skill, even when played for real money, are legal and do not fall under the definition of gambling.

Accordingly, TruePunt fully complies with Indian legal standards by offering only skill-based contests. We do not host or promote any form of gambling, betting, or chance-based games.

Restricted States

Due to the legal uncertainties and state-specific restrictions around real-money skill-based gaming, TruePunt does not permit users from the following states to participate in paid contests:

  • Assam
  • Odisha
  • Sikkim
  • Telangana
  • Andhra Pradesh
  • Nagaland

If you are a resident of any of the above states, you will not be able to participate in pay-to-play contests on TruePunt. However, you may continue to enjoy our free-to-play features where applicable.
